Tinder Diaries

Audrey Jones

Tinder Diaries is a series of art pieces created by Audrey Jones that looks at the weird, unique, and sometimes unbelievable encounters that she has been had on Tinder. The pieces usually depict an exaggerated person and an accompanying message. The messages, presented in text boxes, range from pick-up lines such as Hi. If you were a triangle you'd be an acute one :), to more vulgar sexts like, What do you say we get together and have some kinky fun today. The pieces not only poke fun at the user behind the phone but also the Tinder app itself- making the viewer wonder how this behavior became so normal. Audrey Jones' ability to find humor and put comical and caricature-like faces to these messages makes the series memorable and light. The contrast of how we behave online compared to our real lives creates an almost alternative reality, especially in the dating world. Jones states:

I said 'yes' to as many potential suitors as I could and made illustrations based on the conversations, or first things they would say to me. It was mainly derived as a response to the many questions my family had about my dating life and why I was single.
