In areas where there are LOTS of bears and LOTS of experts, they all say
that all temptations should simply be removed from where the bears can get
at them (or smell them). Nothing else works. In fact, bears become
'problem bears', and too often are eventually killed, because humans
_invite_ them into civilization with bird feeders, garbage, etc.
As with all other animals, we need to remember that we are placing unnatural
hazards and temptations) in their formerly natural home. It's clearly up us
to be responsible to them.
