While most garden/yard thrashers seem to disappear in the winter in the
mountains, there are always some that hang around all winter. In Henderson
County these can usually be found in the flood plains thickets and hedge rows
of the Mills River, Mud Creek (which includes Jackson Park), and the French
Broad River.
