great horned owl and owlet

This sighting needs to viewed with caution.

This is the 3rd year we've observed a great horned owl
nest in the same location.

For those of you (NC) traveling 168 Bypass from NC to
Chesapeake, VA:

Coming from NC, heading to VA, 168 has an overpass
over the intracoastal waterway in Chesapeake. As you
being the incline up the overpass, prepare to pull
over about half way up the incline to the top of the
bridge. There is space for a vehicle, but traffic is
typically brisk--so do be careful. You will see two
pine trees--look just beyond the pair of pines to a
bald cypress tree, also a bit to the left of the two
pines. The owl's nest (formerly a red-shouldered hawk
nest) is located near the trunk of the tree where 2-3
branches come togther. Yesterday (Mar 12) we saw one
owlet, downey-feathered, and an adult. The owlet was
on the nest; the adult was on the other side of the
trunk (same level) on a branch near the trunk. Great ,
sustained views. Skip sees them almost daily on his
commute to VA.

Good luck
linda and skip
