Hi folks, reply to capito@hotmail.com (not skua99)
Migrants this week at the Savannah River Station in Aiken County, SC include
the following:
1 Loui. Waterthrush
2 Northern Waterthrush
many Parula
3 Black and White Warbler
1 Yellowthroated Warbler
1 Pine warbler with nesting material
1 Yellow-th. Vireo
many Gnatcatchers
many Tree Swallows
On Monday a pair of Henslow's Sparrows were trying to stay dry on a grassy
roadside. I was surprised that I found them where they were. The grass +
road width was only 35 meters and the grassy section was only 24 meters wide
(then thick forest). I suspected that they might have been migrants put down
by the bad weather, so I checked the area w/Tracey on Wed. and we relocated
them easily. She got to within 2m of one. The bill size was intermediate on
both birds so I wouldn't say which population they might be from. I'll look
again on Mon.
Also on Mon... a Hermit Thrush in the road every 300 meters for a large
portion of the Savannah River Station. They don't seem to be there today nor
for the last few days.
Cheers
