At the breast of the dam today there were the following:
Purple martins - 15
Double crested cormorants - 15
Bonapartes gulls - 100
American coots - 75
Ruddy ducks - 75
Scaup sp. - 300+ - distance was to great to distinguish, I would assume some
were Greater, but I won't call it.
Bufflehead - 25
Gadwall - 1
Shoveller - 25
Ring necked duck - 1
Savannah sparrow - 2
The area at Shimpock Rd. was much more under water than usual. the following
were observed:
Cormorants - 10
Snipe - 20
Coot - 35
Shoveller - 15
Ruddy duck - 30
Mallard - 2
Osprey - 2 - with a nest on top of a telephone pole.
Ring billed gull - 100
Bufflehead - 8
Tree swallow - 1
Northern rough wing swallow - 1?
Loggerhead shrike - 1
Field sparrow - 3
at Subway:
Hooded merganser - 6
Fish crow - 4
