Early Breeders--Cloacal Protuberance

HI . . .

As a follow-up to my note this week about capturing a female Carolina
Wren with a well-developed brood patch, today I can report the
re-trapping of a Carolina Chickadee male with a well-developed
cloacal protuberance.

Different species, but--along with the Wood Ducklings mentioned in my
earlier post-- another sure sign that spring has sprung at Hilton
Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History.

Happy Birding,

BILL
