HBSP, 3.31.01 (No Red-necked Grebes)



A friend and I birded for a few hours yesterday afternoon at Huntington
Beach State Park, hoping that the Red-necked Grebes were still there. No
such luck. We saw the following:

Red-throated Loon
Common Loon
Pied-billed Grebe
Horned Grebe
Brown Pelican
Double-crested Cormorant
Great Egret
Snowy Egret
Wood Stork
Tundra Swan
Bufflehead
Osprey
Bald Eagles (two adults sharing a dead fish on the beach)
Peregrine Falcon
American Coot
Black-bellied Plover
Wilson's Plover
American Oystercatcher
Willet
Ruddy Turnstone
Sanderling
Semipalmated Plover
Purple Sandpiper
Laughing Gull
Ring-billed Gull
Caspian Tern
Mourning Dove
Tree Swallow
Barn Swallow
Northern Mockingbird
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Field Sparrow
Swamp Sparrow
Eastern Meadowlark
Boat-tailed Grackle
