Southern Mountains migration

Along with all of the other warblers that have been reported from around here,
I heard a couple of early arrival Ovenbirds on the Blue Ridge Parkway just
northeast of Asheville this morning. Other recent unusual sightings were a
flock of about 80 to 100 Bonapartes Gulls flying over Lake Julian late Friday
afternoon (it was hard to count them as they were swirling around). Also,
there was a Wild Turkey on the corner of Merrimon Avenue and Weaver Blvd in
Asheville across from Boston Pizza. There is a little tiny wooded area there,
but still, I have no idea what that bird was doing there. Is there someone
around there keeping caged turkeys? It sure looked like a wild bird. If it
tries to cross Merrimon Avenue it's a goner for sure.
