HI . . .
As breeding birds at Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History
go about the business of building nests, Brown-headed Cowbirds (alias
"Buffalo Birds") are eyeballing the construction and looking for
places to lay their own eggs.
To learn why cowbirds are called "social parasites," visit Hilton
Pond Center's website at http://www.hiltonpond.org , click on "This
Week at Hilton Pond, and select the week of 1-7 April 2001.
As always, there's a summary of the week's bird banding activities,
including recaptures of note, and a mug shot of a Blue-headed Vireo.
