Orange-crowned Warbler in Raleigh

Carolinabirders,

I found a singing Orange-crowned Warbler on the Buckeye Greenway Trail a
little past the 1/2 mile marker (coming from Raleigh Blvd.) around 1 pm
today. Thought I was hearing a Pine at first but soon realized it had uneven
pitch and was way too low down in the undergrowth. It then popped into view
at eye level and allowed leisurely scrutiny. This was my first in NC in
spring or away from the coast. Interestingly, it was not far from where I
had a Wilson's last September.

Also, a Prothonotary was singing and fairly conspicuous on the far side of
Crabtree Creek before the 1/4 mile marker. The more common arrivals included
Wood Thrushes, GC Flycatcher, House Wren, R-e, W-e and B-h Vireos and Indigo
Buntings, along with zillions of Yellow-rumps, many now in bright breeding
plumage.

Good birding,
