Hilton Pond 04/08/01 (Shrews)

HI . . .

Can shrews be domesticated, or was old Will Shakespeare just blowing
smoke when he talked about "Taming of the Shrew?"

Shrews--specifically, Southern Short-tailed Shrews (Blarina
carolinensis)--are the subject of our weekly photo essay on the Web
site for Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History at
http://www.hiltonpond.org . Just click on "This Week at Hilton Pond,"
and select the week of 8-14 April 2001.

As always, there's a summary of the week's bird banding activities,
including recaptures of note, and a splendid mug shot of a male
Butter-Butt (AKA Yellow-rumped Warbler).
