Coddle Creek Res.-Cliff Sw. Orch. Or. Cowans Ford- Grass.Sp, pipers

Today along Shimpock. Rd area at the back of Coddle Creek(John T. Howell)
reservoir there was a high density of birds, a lot of which were unexpected
by my father and I.
5 un id'd sandpipers(my guess is Least)
Solitary Sandpiper
Coot
Lesser Scaup- one bedraggled female
Osprey- on the nest
CLIFF SWALLOW- maybe three or four pairs nesting under the bridge
Orchard Oriole- a couple first year males singing their hearts out
Indigo Bunting
Yellowthroat
Phoebe
Meadowlark
1 great Stealth Bomber flyover

Along Neck. Rd. towards Cowans Ford just past the waste treatment plant along
the straitaway there was
GRASSHOPPER SPARROW- supposedly the same pair that has been in this immediate
area for the past few years. The male was calling profusely from the wire.
Prairie Warbler
Indigo Bunting

At the Cowans Ford overlook:
2 Solitary Sandpipers
1 Greater Yellowlegs
Barn Swallow
RW Swallow
Kingbird
WE Vireo
Yellowthroat

In the neighborhood this week there have been redstarts, BTB warblers, yellow
rumped warblers, pine warblers, BTG warbler, house wren, GC flycatcher,
waxwings, RW swallows. Also, the RS Hawk pair seems to have hatched out a
chick.
