Late migration continues

This has been a very strange migration. We all thought is was simply
awful, and it hasn't been good, but it appears more that the migration
has been very retarded this spring. There were hardly any migrants thru
the CBC meeting on May 4-6, which should have been close to the peak.
Must have had a lot of northerly winds or poor flight conditions in the
Yucatan this spring, delaying birds from crossing the Gulf and the
Caribbean.

At Cedarrock Park in Alamance Co., NC, yesterday, I heard singing a
Gray-cheeked Thrush (or could have been a Bicknell's) and a Northern
Waterthrush. Lots of other people are reporting migrants in numbers in
the past week. As female birds migrate later than males, we can still
expect migrants for a number of days, though the silent females will be
very hard to detect.
