Interesting, if brief, birding

Hello everyone,
Yesterday afternoon (Monday), I spent a little over an hour at
Brickhouse Road (the Butner Gamelands in NE Durham). During that time, I
got nearly 40 species, and highlights included the following:

- prothonotary warbler - near water's edge, brilliant against the dreary
overcast and drizzle

- first spring male summer tanager, stunning red and yellow. I have seen
this bird 2 weeks in a row, along with an adult male (the proud papa?)

- male and female northern bobwhite, scooting along in the grass beside
Brickhouse Road, just after the turnoff from Old Oxford Hwy
