Dairyland Dickcissel

I went by Anilorac Farm on Dairyland Road this afternoon just as it
stopped raining at noon, and after scoping the fields and road-side wires
found the Dickcissel sitting huddled on a bush along the little stream
just beyond the farm. it was looking a little bedraggled and damp fromthe
rain and had the look of a bird that has been huddling in a bush to keep
out of the rain. In a few minutes it flew to the telephone wires and sang
for about five minutes before flying off down the road and out of
sight. Also present were two indigo buntings, two kingbirds, lots of
grasshopper sparrows (one of whom allowed me to walk right up under her as
she sat and sang on the wires) and many Orcahrd orioles. Today., however,
there were no Bobolinks around. THe Dickcissel is indeed an amazingly
yellow-faced individual.
This brings my year total up to 299. Who will be the 300th?
