Interesting behavior

While birding at the Beaver Lake Bird Sanctuary in Asheville, I got a great
look at a Northern Flicker on the ground, from about 10 meters away. He was
pecking away at the ground. After ten minutes or so, he flew away, and I
went over to discover an anthill with multiple bird pecks in the ground in
and around it.

Also saw male downy WP feeding female with seeds from our feeder.
