weddings and birds

Howdy,

Best wishes to birders Josh Rose and Brian Bockhahn and Colleen Carmody
on their wedding day Saturday, October 13. What's the chance of three
local birders getting married on the same day?

I was delighted to see a Swainson's Thrush in our bird bath last week.
Such a sweet face. It was neat to see him stay still as a tulip popular
leaf fell in the bath next to him. Yesterday I had my first
White-throated Sparrow of the season. As I was searching for the
sparrow, two Carolina Wrens were chattering and chasing each other. Then
one wren burrowed under a bunch of pine needles looking for food, before
coming up again. That was the first time I've seen that occur.

Okay, you know I love my chickadees, so I hope I don't see a
Brown-headed Nuthatch (or anything else!) grabbing a chickadee.

Oh goody! I'm happy Dwayne reported a loon returning to the Carolinas.
Joe and I need to start checking Jordan and Falls Lake.

Happy birding! Karen Bearden
