Charlotte waterfowl

Visited the Duke Energy Thermal pond to find it devoid of everything but 10
or so Lesser Scaup. The next stop at Coddle Creek, aka Don T. Howell
Reservoir yielded a much better return with the following:
Black Duck
Mallard
GW Teal
Gadwall
Am. Widgeon
Common Snipe (and a host of other shorebird species too distant to id)
Killdeer
Shoveler
Lesser Scaup
Hooded Merganser
Pintail
Ruddy Duck
PB Grebe
Canada Goose
Coots

Hwy 73 side of the reservoir provided:
Coots
RN Duck
L. Scaup
C.Geese
Hooded Mergs
Mallards

The evening Barred Owl broadcasting session (part of my thesis project for
those who do not know) produced a response from yet another accipiter
species. On two occasions last season, Cooper's Hawks responded to the
broadcast of hooting Barred Owls. This evening a Sharpie flew in
immmediately after beginning the broadcast. Interesting to say the least...
