Re: Rose-breasted Grosbeak????

I understand that the Wildbird World store in Greenville is getting some
calls about the report of an early December report of a Rose-breasted
Grosbeak. A Rose-breasted Grosbeak is not a bird anyone should expect to
see in North Carolina during December, especially late in the month.
However, birds can be found at times and in places where they are not
expected.

Two things I would not do: (1) Plan a trip to see the bird, (2) Attempt to
call the person involved and quiz them about the sighting.

The Wildbird World store in Greenville keeps the bird-sighting board up as a
courtesy to the customers, many of whom find birds in their yards as a
consequence of feeding. Although most of these sighting are legitimate,
there may be occasional identification errors. The store manager is not in
the habit of questioning these sightings unless she is asked for help, and
the bird-sightings board should not be considered "verified".
