HI . . .
The first installment of "This Week at Hilton Pond" for 2002 is
finally finished and posted to the Web site for Hilton Pond Center
for Piedmont Natural History.
The topic is "Ebony and Ivory," an account of the hordes of
blackbirds that arrived to feed during our January snowstorm. There
are some close-up photos of three blackbird species--including one of
an Rusty Blackbird that will reveal some interesting characteristics
of this ever-more-elusive bird.
For more photos and the essay--plus a list of birds banded or
recaptured during the week of 1-7 January 2002--just visit
http://www.hiltonpond.org/ThisWeek020101.html .
And please don't forget to forward this message to folks who share
our interest in nature.
With best wishes for a great 2002,
BILL
