FYI...We have scant systematically gathered information in North Carolina
about the real values of greenways in fragmented urban/suburban areas for
birds and other wildlife. This study is an excellent start in getting much

RESEARCH TECHNICIAN needed April 1st - June 31st to assist full-time
in the Raleigh and Cary, NC area with the collection of field data for
a research project investigating the value of urban greenways to
wildlife. Primary duties include conducting point counts of breeding
birds, observing migratory bird foraging behavior, recording field
data on environmental conditions, and surveying mammal populations.
Ability to identify birds by sight and song is essential. Prior
experience with mammal surveys, artificial nest studies, vegetation
surveys, GIS, GPS and MS Excel a plus. Applicants must be able to work
well independently and as part of a team and must provide their own
transportation to and from study sites. Technician will receive $1,100
- $1,500/month, depending on qualifications. To apply, send a letter
