B.Owls/Waxwings/intrigue/heronry

after Ch.Hill Bird Club walk this am. stopped by
campus to see both Barred Owls sleeping together, female
not yet nesting; in Holly tree next to them was flock of
C.Waxwings in feeding frenzy. (and on club trip Will neglected
to mention also had an overhead imm. B.Eagle; somewhat routine
in that area, but always a highlight).
When club is on pelagic next Sat., New Hope Audubon
has 'hotspots of Triangle' bird outing for locals that
Pat Coin may mention again later (8:30am. meet at Hwy 54 Mardi
Gras parking lot).
Last Wed. Alan Johnston introduced a couple of us to the
wonderful Cub (Bear?) Creek habitat off Hwy.1008 that had
44-nest heronry last spring. About 5 nests were already
underway on Wed.

...and this bit of intrigue: Zeiss Ivorybill search site has
been down for over 24 hrs. -- could be computer glitch, or maybe
just re-doing site, or just possibly something else, hmmmm... :-)
(with week left in search they're now focussed on the 1-2
most promising areas).
