Elisha Mitchell Audubon will do its monthly bird walk at Beaver Lake Bird
Sanctuary Saturday 4/6 at 9 a.m. The sanctuary is on Merrimon Ave. in
north Asheville, just as Merrimon begins to narrow to two lanes.
Early-arriving migrants should include swallows and a couple of warbler
species. Resident songbirds will be singing up a storm. Waterfowl are
heading north. So are Yellow-rumps in breeding plumage. It should be a
good morning. Hope to see you there.
The following Saturday 4/13, 930 am to 1230 pm, we'll do another work
session at the Sanctuary. Come prepared to attack multi-flora rose and
spotted knapweed, invasive exotic plants. Bring loppers, weeders and work
gloves.
