orchard oriole

hi y'all,
got home this eve a little after 7, just in time to hear Mr. OROR for
the first time this spring singing his pretty little tune from the sycamore
they've nested in the past two years.
heard the ethereal strains of a wood thrush from a thicket behind the
local c-store.
the gray catbird appears to approve of a new feeder set-up in the yard
here since last year. he's groovin' on free eats in front of the window this
year, big as life. you just gotta love ANYTHING with a reference to Carolina
in its name...as in Dumetella carolinensis, translated according to one
source as "the little one of the thorns of Carolina."
saw a "Carolina Saddlebags" dragonfly today, too. ;-)
    well, how 'bout that?

woohoo!

;-)
