Tracy and I visited the grandparents in Hendersonville this weekend. I
made it over to the parkway for about an hour Saturday between rain
showers, and we birded a bit on the way home Sunday. Best bird was a male
Bay-breasted Warbler. Others included:
Cerulean
Blackburnian
Hooded
Black-throated Blue
Black-throated Green
Ovenbird
Black and White
Northern Parula
Magnolia
American Redstart
Chestnut-sided
Worm-eating
YR
Non-warblers included:
Turkey
Blue-headed Vireo
Scarlet Tanager
Indigo Bunting
We stopped by Anilorac Farm as we passed through the Chapel Hill area.
Bobolinks were moving around the grain fields in small flocks, and we
spotted two (maybe three) Warbling Vireos in the trees in front of the
farmhouse. I counted the warblers seen this year and came up with 35
species so far (including western species). Could be a good warbler year
for me!
Best,
