Warbler Road Trip

Folks,

My e-mail is finally working again!!!!

Saturday, Eric Dean and myself spent a few hours at Warbler Road, just northeast of Lynchburg. (We're now calling it Cerulean Road, due to the great numbers of Ceruleans seen and heard!) Although the weather was a bit windy and cool early, and followed by showers around noon, we had a successful day. Our bird count totalled eighty-one, with eighteen warblers. I gained the Kentucky, Chestnut-sided, Cerulean, and Canada for my year list. I won't mention all the birds, but here a few:

Warbling Vireo (Lifer!!)
Yellow Warbler
Baltimore/Orchard Orioles
Ruffed Grouse (2)
Rose-breasted Grosbeaks (several)
Blackburnian Warbler
Tree, Rough-winged, and Barn Swallows
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Eastern Kingbird
Eastern Meadowlark
Veery
Cedar Waxwings
Yellow-throated Vireo
Blue-headed Vireo
Worm-eating Warbler
Pileated Woodpecker

Eric gained more than 15 species for the year, and increased his Virginia list by 40+. All in all, we had a productive and enjoyable time, and the scenery was incredible! We'll go back again I'm sure.
