This AM Blayne and I saw the Scissor-tailed flycatchers flying about
in the tops of the trees that border the creek that runs east of the
cemetery. By standing in the grass along the south side of the cemetery
you get a good look across the pasture and can easily see the trees on
the other side. The young are getting very strong and were flying from
treetop to treetop. We also saw the adults hawking insects.
The STs are usually seen in the trees that border the pasture that
lies to the east of the small cemetery that is just at the top of the
first hill as you drive along our farm road. They can be anywhere from
in the trees of the cemetery itself, in the large pin oak that is by the
old deserted house, or in any of the other large trees in that area.
Based on the past two years, they will probably be here one or two
more weeks.
