Worm-eating Warbler

This morning (9 July 2002) at Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural
History near York SC I netted an after-hatch-year female Worm-eating
Warbler with a brood patch, which implies local or nearby breeding.

This bird is extremely rare in the South Carolina Piedmont in summer,
and I'm not aware of any Piedmont nesting records. My previous early
date for this species in fall migration is 8 August.

Anyone else know of Piedmont breeding records for this species in the
Carolinas?

Cheers,

BILL
