Hi folks,
Was birding near Scotland Neck, Halifax County, NC this morning and stumbled
onto an imm. Wood Stork! It was hanging out at a small pond that has a
rather large Canada Goose flock and many Nutria! Thought I would let you guys
know about this in case you are not far from the area and would like the
chance to see a NC Wood Stork away from the usual Sunset Beach area. The pond
location is ne of Scotland Neck. Using DeLorme Atlas, p23, D5, take Shields
Commissary Rd east and at Shields Commissary take the unnamed road to the
left, which is dirt, go to near the end before the intersection with River
Road, the pond is on the left. The bird was seen at several other ponds
during the morning too which are about a mile east of there along Shields
Commissary Rd toward Norfleet. So be sure and give it some time and effort if
not at the first pond. Good luck to anyone who tries for it. Later, Ricky
