Caw CawPark Ravenel, SC birdwalk



The following are the highlights of the morning birdwalk at Charleston
County's Caw Caw Park in Ravenel, SC. led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.

July 24, 2002. 60 species were seen and/or heard.  The most interesting
were; 1 adult and 2 young Yellow-crowned Night Herons, 2 Mississippi Kites,
2 Swallow-tailed Kites, 30 Greater Yellowlegs, 8 Lesser Yellowlegs, 4
Solitary Sandpipers, 8 Spotted Sandpipers, 5 Western Sandpipers, 40 Least
Sandpipers, 12 Pectoral Sandpipers, 3 Stilt sandpipers, 3 Belted
Kingfishers, 10 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers ( the babies have fledged), 1
Loggerhead Shrike, 1 Prothonotary Warbler, 4 Louisiana Waterthrushes, 6 Blue
Grosbeaks, 8 Indigo Buntings, and 15 Painted Buntings.
