Great White Heron still at Hendersonville, NC

Recently, Tom Joyce reported a Great White Heron race of the Great Blue
Heron. Ron Selvey told me that he had seen the bird with its gray, not
black legs and dismissed it as a Great Egret. Tom saw an immature Great
White Heron in Brevard last year.

I saw the bird still on the south side of Four Seasons Blvd in the marsh.

Directions: If you come by Interstate 26 go to route 64 Bat Cave exit of
the Hendersonville exits and drive west toward downtown Hendersonville. The
marsh is just past the radio station.

The immature Little Blue Heron may still be visible.

Jackson Park weather note: Wayne Forsythe had a wonderful list of warblers
reported recently. Well, it seems that this cool weather sent those
warblers packing. Yesterday, Ron found only one Worm-eating Warbler. But
hope springs eternal . . . .
