HBSP on 8-10



Hi Carolinabirders,

Waccamaw Audubon Society had a field trip in search of shorebirds at
Huntington Beach S.P. this morning.  There were 7 of us and 50+ birds
were id'd. This was the most pleasant of trips with the temps in the low
80's with just enough breeze to make for a pleasant sunshinny day.  It
was high tide and the jetty pond was so flooded that in one spot only
about 10 feet of dune seperated it from the ocean. I've never seen the
jetty pond that full even after the passage of hurricane Floyd a few
years ago.  Nonetheless the beach like area in front of the jetty was
not flooded and at least some shorebirds were found there.  Here are the
birds.
