Some of you may recall my post last fall about a lack of chipping sparrows
at my feeders. I had a handful during the winter, but now I feel as though
I've been invaded! There must be 30+ in my yard at a given time. Is this at
all unusual?
Got a new bird for my yard list -- a bald eagle! I was walking around the
yard looking and listening for new arrivals when I heard crows cursing a
predator. Through binoculars, there was no mistaking an adult male bald
eagle. I imagine this is somewhat of an unusual sighting since I live on a
fairly dry plateau between the Broad and Catawba Rivers. Quite a thrill,
believe me!
