Good Birds at Happy Valley



I birded Indian Grave Road and the Wagner property in Happy Valley, NC
(north of Lenoir) this morning.  I had a great time!  I had 61 species;14
warbler species and two very good birds-- one of which was a state bird for
me.  Here is my list:

Pied-billed Grebe
AMERICAN BITTERN-- This is the second time that I have seen this species
here

BLACK RAIL-- STATE BIRD!!!  I flushed it up as I was walking beside the
flooded ponds
