Charleston County goodies



On Sunday (4-27) David Armstrong and I birded the
Francis Marion National Forest, the Santee Delta,
Moore's Landing and Sullivan's Island.

Partial list / highlights:

FRANCIS MARION N.F.-
Wood Storks (flyover)
Swallow-tailed Kite
Red-cockaded Woodpeckers
Worm-eating Warbler (great views of singing bird)
Ovenbird (great views of singing bird)
Swainson's Warblers (great views of singing bird)
Louisiana Waterthrush
Hooded Warblers (great views of singing bird)
Bachman's Sparrows

SANTEE DELTA- (water has receded enough to walk the
dikes)
(3 Swallow-tailed and 3 Mississippi Kites low overhead
at once)
5 Swallow-tailed Kites
4 Mississippi Kites
Orchard Orioles
Indigo Buntings
Blue Grosbeaks

MOORE'S LANDING-
2 Bald Eagles
12 Gull-billed Terns
1 Cliff Swallow (hanging around the concrete pier -
wonder if they're going to re-establish?)
Painted Buntings
Dunlin, SB Dowitchers, Gr. Yellowlegs, Western
Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper, Ruddy Turnstone.

Sullivan's Island:
Bobolink (at Ft. Moultrie)
Painted Bunting
1 Common Moorhen 100 yards past the breakers in the
ocean.
