Lots of (=>8) BLPWs foraging noisily (as noisy as they get) in longleaf
pines spread out and calling to each other over a 3-acre pine-wooded lot
here on Lake Norman. Also (surprisingly) a flock of six CEDWs flew noisily
overhead on their way from one tree to another. I thought they were s'posed
to be gone N-ward by now.
House Wrens singly madly/gaily everywhere this morning. Gray Catbirds and
Brown Thrashers EVERYWHERE and quite vocal in this morning's sunshine.
Mallard ducklings abound.
Picked a fresh, large (2+ lbs.) and beautiful cluster of Pleurotus ostreatus
(Oyster Mushroom) at one of my stops in the neighborhood this morning. It's
gonna be Madeira-laced 'shroom cream chowder before nightfall. (Just trying
to make ya' salivate, like I'm doin' at this very moment! <G>)
