The best part wasn't the birds



Early this afternoon at Cowans Ford WR, N of Charlotte, NC:

Intoxicating;
Honeysuckle profusion -
Scent osmerotic

Intermittent sunshine, just enough breeze to waft perfume almost
continuously, EVERYONE singing or sounding off... What an incredible
multi-sensual experience on this fine Spring day.  Oh yeah... And Birds, too


             American Black Duck - Fe w/ solitary young'un (the ONLY
waterfowl in evidence <!!!>)
             Red-tailed Hawks (2)
             Wild Turkeys (2 males, sounding off, too)
             Yellow-billed Cuckoo (heard)
             Belted Kingfisher
             Red-bellied Woodpecker
             Downy Woodpecker
             Northern Flicker
             Great Crested Flycatcher (heard)
             Eastern Kingbird (12)
             Blue Jay
             Purple Martin (23)
             Barn Swallow (6)
             Carolina Chickadee
             Tufted Titmouse
             Carolina Wren
             House Wren (heard)
             Eastern Bluebird (4)
             American Robin
             Northern Mockingbird
             European Starling
             Cedar Waxwing (7)
             Northern Parula (heard)
             Prairie Warbler (3)
             Common Yellowthroat (3)
             Eastern Towhee
             Field Sparrow
             Song Sparrow
             Northern Cardinal
             Blue Grosbeak (2)
             Indigo Bunting (12)
             Red-winged Blackbird (many)
             Eastern Meadowlark
             Common Grackle
             Brown-headed Cowbirds (many)
             Orchard Oriole (one imm. Male singing)
             House Finch
             American Goldfinch (many)
