Orchard Oriole behavior in Conway, SC

hi y'all,

for the past few years, OROR (see subject line) have nested in a sycamore in
the backyard here. an ad. male showed up right on time this spring and sang
from the top of the tree daily for a cpl of weeks. then silence. i haven't
heard his song nor seen him in awhile now. 'til this eve, when he rousted a
second-year male from a pine in front, and proceeded to disappear into the
foliage of the aforementioned tree.

anyone care to speculate on what's up with the sneaky oriole (i have a cpl
of ideas.)
