MOMO this week



Greetings from Morrow Mountain State Park, Albemarle, Stanly County, North Carolina.

In a few moments of birding, I observed 20 bird species in the park, from 3 PM Sunday 11 May, to 3 PM Sunday 18 May, 2003.

On a 1 hour birdwalk along the park's main road, from the front gate to the office, 5:45-6:45 PM, on Tuesday, May 13th, I observed 16 bird species:

Mourning Dove
Pileated Woodpecker
Eastern Wood-Pewee
Acadian Flycatcher
Great Crested Flycatcher
Red-eyed Vireo
American Crow
Tufted Titmouse
Carolina Wren
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Northern Parula
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Summer Tanager
Scarlet Tanager
Chipping Sparrow
Ovenbird

Also on Tuesday 13 May, 11 PM, I heard 3 species near the front gate:
Great Horned Owl
Chuck-will's-widow
Whip-poor-will

On Wednesday 14 May, 9:20 AM, I heard near the front gate:
Brown Thrasher.
