Wood Thrush after the storm

The old axiom; that to watch what you ask for, you might get it; is
becoming true in buckets this season with the copious rain that the east
coast is receiving. Last night was reminiscent of the heavy
thunderstorms that I grew up with in Southeast Texas around the Gulf
coast. Water was running like rapid, overflowing streams though our
yards.
This morning, while surveying the saturated backyard and cleaning and
filling the feeders, I was elated to hear the faint sound of a Wood
Thrush whose wonderful song grew stronger as he flew from tree to tree
in our neighborhood and finally again decrease in volume as he left the
area. This is the first I have heard this season on our street. A nice
treat on a soggy morning.
