Hi,
Thanks to Lex Glover's note yesterday I was inspired to visit the Walhalla
Fish Hatchery in Oconee County, SC this morning. As many as 8 Red Crossbills
remained active and very vocal near the hatchery entrance gate from about
9-9:30 AM, and there may have been more than that number, considering the
frequent flights and chatter.
Also, at the Burrell's Ford campground parking lot, a pair of Red-breasted
Nuthatches, 3 Golden-crowned Kinglets. High, flyover Red Crossbills were
heard at this location as well.
