Henderson County Update/Short-eared Owls

Folks:
Since I have several requests the last few days on the owls on
Hooper Lane, YES, they are still present. This afternoon at about 2:30 PM,
Dr. Kempe and myself, walked the loop around the main sod field that has
the equipment shed in it. We flushed one owl, who then landed in the center
of the sod field, and gave us prolonged scope views for at least 15 minutes.
It has been my experience, that you don't need to walk out beyond
the barn. The owls usually can be seen by walking up either road,(right and
left side of the main sod field for a few hundred yards. The left road
runs beside the large orange Allied van, and the right road runs to the
equipment barn.
                                                Good luck,
                                                Wayne
