Advance notice Memorial Weekend Pelagic Trips

Dear Seabirders

I hope you will make plans to join me this May 27,28,29 for a special
series of Pelagic Trips out of Oregon Inlet, NC aboard the Country Girl.
What makes them special is that I'm planning to try a new, extended
itinerary. The challenge with trips aboard the Country Girl is that,
even as fast as that boat is, we still lose 6 hours each day to travel,
50% of our birding day. While there's not much that can be done about
the transit time, in late May, there's enough daylight to justify
extended time offshore. In years past, the good days always seem to end
too early or before we can cover everything we had hoped. Then on the
next day, everything's different and you don't feel as though the second
day is a continuation of the first. I've talked to Alan Foreman (boat
Captain) about extending the time offshore and he reluctantly agreed
(for more money of course) but only if I can fill the boat early. That's
why I'm contacting everyone now. If you thought of taking a late spring
trip this year, please don't hesitate. Those of us who have been running
pelagics know that when something new and different is tried, there's a
lot of initial resistance from the boat captains, then when it works,
they act as though it was their idea. I think this extended schedule
itinerary might be one of those changes. Please contact me for details.
