In the west, Pygmy Nuthatches are known to communally roost in tree cavities. I do not know if our Brown-headeds do the same. My late friend Sam Gadd, from my Colorado years, discovered this. He found many mummified nuthatches in a cavity, it had obviously been in use for a long time. The full account was published in "Condor" many years ago. Mike Schultz
