Cbirders,
I spent some time looking for winter invaders in Oconee Co along
Burrell's Ford Road (GA & SC) and at the Walhalla SFH ~11:00 before the snow
set in. The birds were really active, maybe they knew the weather forecast.
Common Raven - 3
RB Nuthatch - 12
Winter Wren - 5
Brown Creeper - 2
GC Kinglet - ~100 (everywhere)
Red Crossbill - 5 (GA), 15 (SC)
Pine Siskin - 15 + (In a mixed flock with Goldfinches, didn't have time to
get a good count)
Goldfinches - 10
All species except the Siskins and Ravens were seen in both states. The
Siskins and Ravens were at WSFH. Some Evening Grosbeaks & Purple finches
would make the day a clean sweep.
