Hi Carolinabirders,
This afternoon Gary Phillips and I went to the Horry Cty Landfill. We
were not disappointed. There were seven species of gull among the about
5,000 at the dump site. 95% were Ring-billed's. Other gulls in descending
order of numbers were: Laughing Gull, Herring Gull, Great Black-backed
Gull, Bonaparte's Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull-2-4, and the star of the
day a first winter GLAUCOUS GULL.
Other birds were:
Ring-necked Duck-6
Wood Duck-a pair
Turkey Vulture
Bald Eagle-first year bird
Red-tailed Hawk (2)
Song Sparrow
Red-winged Blackbird
E. Meadowlark-singing
"Don't forget sometimes you have to look up"
