High Country Birds

Hello to all,

Spring is slowly hinting at arriving here in the High Country. The last
couple of days have seen the return of a few Red-winged Blackbirds, more
Cedar Waxwings, and in creeks and rivers and beaver channels a few Wood
Ducks and a few more Great Blue Herons. Got some really close looks at
roosting Turkey Vultures today, and a really nice Red-shouldered Hawk. The
hotline is still getting widespread reports of Siskins and a few PUFI.
Walton Conway still has some Evening Grosbeaks, and ravens are starting
their courtship on the high peaks. Also be on the lookout for large numbers
of wild turkey and ruffed grouse along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Don't forget the Great Backyard Bird Count this weekend! (18-21)

Happy birding!!
