Winter finch Grand Slam

Thanks to Ginger Travis' hospitality, I was treated to a special treat today in
the form of a winter finch Grand Slam. Ginger's place provided spectacular
looks at 10 or so Evening Grosbeaks, at least 5 Pine Siskins, and a pair of
Purple Finches. At one point the feeder had a grosbeak, a siskin, and a PUFI
feeding at the same time! Probably not a sight I'll see again for quite a
while. Figuring that I already had three under my belt, I thought I'd try for
the other winter finch being seen in the area, Red Crossbill. I stopped at the
Big Woods Rd. site (1.6 miles north of US64), and got onto a small flock of
crossbills feeding in the application area. The views were not great, but
enough!

Thrilled,
