RE: Pheasants

My understanding, from the locals, is that these were "all-American" wild
pheasants introduced here from other NC populations to establish a breeding
population for hunters. They reproduced and held their own until the fox
population exploded. Local hunters say the last of them disappeared in the
mid to late 1980's. I would imagine they are 'countable'.

Subject: Pheasants

Back in the 1970's I saw pheasants at Cape Hatteras/Pea Island refuge area.
Some seemed not to be typical Ringed-necks. I've heard "Greens" were
involved. What is the consensus on this population as for the "listing
countability", and viability?
